Our sail was great. Good company with Captain Tom, and we felt the stress of the last year blow right away as we left the intercoastal waterways and hit the ocean. Couldn't have asked for more to make our birthday sail any better. We might have found a new tradition ⛵
Jason and Jeff were great. My wife and I enjoyed the time and lessons. We took the ASA 101 and 103 and look forward to coming back for the 104
We just completed our week long live-aboard sailing lesson. We couldn’t be happier. We went from ‘never being on a sailboat’ to getting ASA 101 & 103 certified in just 6 days. Captain Jason was a great guide.
My wife and I booked 5 hours of introduction to sailing with Captain Jason. It was very informative and we had fun on Bohemian Blue. All our questions have been answered and we will be certainly back for more sailing lessons.
My wife and I were needing a refresher on our past sailing knowledge and found it here with Tom. He was very patient in reminding us of our skills and the weather was amazing. Will do it again.
Jason and Tom were awesome! They made the experience very fun and relaxing! Would definitely go again 🙂
My wife and I just completed the combined ASA 101/103 courses. We both were new to sailing. Jason was our instructor, and we had a fantastic experience. Jason was very professional and knowledgeable and also extremely fun. We really enjoyed ourselves and can’t believe how much we learned. We intend to continue sailing and will take additional ASA courses. We strongly recommend he Myrtle Beach Sailing School!
My son and I took the ASA 101/103/104 Advance Combo course, testing out of ASA 101. We are experienced lake-sailors and sail a Catalina 25 here in Colorado. We picked Sailing Myrtle Beach with Jason Cox because the class size was limited to two students and we hoped for a tailored experience. We also thought that the location of the school was good with quick access to the ocean through the ICW. Our goal for this week was to gain coastal sailing experience that we can not get in Colorado and to obtain our 101-104 certifications. For our lessons, we sailed on Bohemian Blue, the Beneteau 39 out of Cricket Cove Marina. Staying on the boat was comfortable and the facilities at the marina were nice and clean. Jason was our instructor for the week and we really enjoyed working with him as he is personable and laid-back. We felt Jason was a good instructor teaching us coastal sailing and navigation skills as well as improving our sail trim skills. Our experience with Jason and Sailing Myrtle Beach exceeded our expectations. Jason went above and beyond the scope of the class to provide us sailing experiences. I would highly recommend Jason to anyone looking to expand/improve their sailing skills.
This was a truly incredible experience. I recently took the 101 course with Captain Jason Cox and would recommend Myrtle Beach Sailing School to anyone who is interested. Jason was unbelievably kind, respectful, easy going, thorough and most importantly had the patience of a saint making learning how to sail easy and possible. I'm excited to take more of their sailing courses, and check out the other opportunities they offer in the future!
We started with 101 and progressed thru 103 and 104. The first question Jason asked at the start of 101 foreshadowed the entire experience: "What are you looking to get from this experience?" Jason tailored the approach to each course, covering all the materials in alignment with our goals. Jason did his 'classroom' work on the trip from the marina along the intercoastal waterway (ICW) to the ocean. He took advantage of the ICW and more generally the local environment beautifully -- using many moments as teaching opportunities. Jason's style is welcoming, calming (there can be brief exciting moments at sea and while docking), and always full of learning. Did I mention he always provided good snacks, drinks, and lunches! We took advantage of the 'live-aboard' option -- sure this saved on hotel bills, but it really gave a nice sense of life on a boat. We've now sailed both the Morgan and the Beneteau, in near dead calm and when the winds and seas picked up. The range of experiences has been great. I feel fortunate to have had Jason as an instructor. I've been an academic for three decades -- Jason is an excellent teacher, with great interpersonal skills, and one for whom I have no hesitation giving my highest recommendation.
